WA0337 – Research on public/victim perceptions of policing and crime

Q1. The qualitative and quantitative research you have undertaken (surveys, focus groups, depth interviews) that have focused on public or victim perceptions of policing and crime in 2020/21 and 2021/22.

A1. In 2020/21 and 2021/22, a total of four reports have been produced following OPCC research focused on public or victim perceptions of policing and crime, namely:

  1. Perceptions Survey 2020 (March – August 2020
  2. Budget Consultation 2021/22 (November 2020 – January 2021)
  3. Budget Consultation 2022/23 (December 2021 – January 2022)
  4. Warwickshire Victim Needs Assessment 2022

Q2. What the outputs of any qualitative and quantitative research was in 2020/21 and 2021/22 and a copy of these.

A2. A copy of the summaries of these four reports is attached.

Q3. A breakdown of the budget and total costs for these surveys in 2020/21 and 2021/22

A3. The budget and costs for these four surveys is:

  1. The Perceptions Survey was conducted by a private company SMSR Research, contracted to the OPCC and Warwickshire Police. In terms of costs, this information is commercially sensitive, so I revert to the exemption provided under s.43 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000* to not disclose this information.
  2. The Budget Consultation 2021/22 was conducted by the OPCC using a commonly available online survey tool. In terms of the cost, it is not possible to provide accurate information as the OPCC pays either a monthly or yearly subscription for the survey tool
