Communications and Engagement Officer

Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Warwickshire

Based at Warwick

Hours: 25 hours per week, subject to negotiation

Salary: Grade F – £ 32,673 – £34,578 per annum (pro-rata for a 25 hour week)

As Police and Crime Commissioner of Warwickshire, Philip Seccombe is keen to engage with as wide a range of people, communities and organisations as possible to ensure they have the chance to have their say on policing and community safety matters and to influence the way services are delivered locally.

To help him achieve this, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner as a Communications and Engagement Officer.

We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with great interpersonal skills who can communicate effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances, from members of the public to representatives of our key stakeholders and partners.

You will be responsible for ensuring there is meaningful engagement and communication between the Commissioner and these individuals and groups. The role is varied and can include accompanying the Commissioner to public meetings, planning and organising community engagement events or producing a social media marketing campaign which really grabs the attention of target audiences.

With a background in communications or previous experience of engagement gained in a relevant professional area, you’ll also have a proven ability to work as part of a busy but friendly team, often managing competing demands.

Working closely with the Head of Media and Communications, you will use your previous experience of researching, planning and publicising engagement activities to develop a programme of activity, delivering effective campaigns with minimal supervision to meet deadlines. You will also have experience of campaign evaluation to help monitor the success of such events and activities, providing recommendations for ongoing improvements.

The role will be varied and will include working outside of normal office hours to support and deliver engagement and communications activity.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Neil Tipton, Head of Media and Communications on 07971 602763.

The closing date for enquiries and receipt of completed applications is 4pm on Friday 13 August, 2021.  Shortlisting of applications will take place on 26 August with interviews taking place on Friday 3 September, 2021.
